Brandon has always had his powers, and he uses them very much when it comes to relating to people and understanding them. So Jimmy is constantly a surprise to him. Jimmy is as much a mystery to Brandon as he is to everyone else in a way, even though Brandon knows him best.

Thanks for commenting! The Lunar Foxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00300943457749354465noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3322342997539658469.post-61138588535217281122012-04-07T19:51:45.853-07:002012-04-07T19:51:45.853-07:00I can't believe I didn't read this earlier...I can't believe I didn't read this earlier! In any case, I love seeing Brandon and Pat together, even during a situation like this. I love the little details that tell so much--her hesitation to accept his kiss because she wasn't sure she should enjoy it, etc. It's interesting to me that Rita sees Brandon as someone who is good for her daughter--she probably thinks Pat is too closed-off in many ways.

I love how a portion of this chapter shows that Brandon can still be surprised by Jimmy. He's truly taken aback by his treatment of Rita, and those times that Jimmy spent with Rita are closed off to Brandon. It's something he has to glean indirectly.

Love this!Rachelhttp://simstoriesbyrachel.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3322342997539658469.post-21422971001301823842012-02-11T18:52:20.052-08:002012-02-11T18:52:20.052-08:00Don't even worry. He could refuse and fight it all he wants, but in the end will that really help? This is something I've touched on with Jimmy and Mary too. She came to the same conclusion in one of her chapters-- that Jimmy didn't have a choice in his path anymore than she did.

Thank you, Beth. The Lunar Foxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00300943457749354465noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3322342997539658469.post-1376894047390876982012-02-11T12:02:58.125-08:002012-02-11T12:02:58.125-08:00I'm only sorry I put off reading this because ...I'm only sorry I put off reading this because I thought it would be hard to respond to and I haven't had a lot of stuff in my brain to work with. It's not. Love in the savanna, in the ruin, in the wreck of the world, but what they have matters. Brandon's reluctance to join Jimmy is pretty much close to heartbreaking. But I like how they both left it somewhat unsaid anyway.

I loved the whole conversation between Brandon and Pat after they went off together too (and also that it was long, because it meant there was more for me to read :D).

"What makes you think I haven't already? I know I didn't show it much here (maybe I'll get to it in future stories, but no promises), but without him, I'm sure the hole is very obvious. Regardless, I think it is a given there will be retribution. That shot of the younger Jimmy and Brandon - where they talked about burying Mary - was so poignant. Justice and vengeance may end up very well being the same thing in this case.

I'm shooting for an update tomorrow since the next one is actually pretty short, but it's still important and surprising in it's own way.

Brandon surprises me with his observations. I can see why an angry-yet-in-control Jimmy would be a terrifying thing!

Aw, your imagining of that scene is beautiful. The Lunar Foxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00300943457749354465noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3322342997539658469.post-32475945219377585842012-01-18T12:12:35.649-08:002012-01-18T12:12:35.649-08:00I doubt Pat would actually want vengeance, but jus...I doubt Pat would actually want vengeance, but justice yes and in this rough reality the two are very much two sides of the same knife.

I'm wondering how Pat and Brandon will react to seeing each other after that time apart, how she will show her grief and since he catches surface thoughts I think her strong emotions will be really hard for him to handle.

I liked the beginning of this chapter when Brandon reacts to Jimmy's anger and that the fact he was keeping it under control was more worrying than if he'd been showing it. Also loved that the others suddenly found better things to do.

The image of young Jimmy and Brandon together is so achingly sad, the look on Brandon's face is so filled with grief and if I pretend a little that gleam of white in Jimmy's eyes could be unshed tears.Willow Weedshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04441984783838413437noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3322342997539658469.post-29118559924250385462012-01-17T21:35:05.563-08:002012-01-17T21:35:05.563-08:00Vengeance will happen either way. What a way to die, and what an impact this will have on Pat. I can't see her asking Brandon to avenge her father but then losing your father like that would be horrible.
