Glossary

Labs- Anytime a character uses this word, the labs being referenced are specifically the ones that used to experiment on humans. All were over run in the revolution 30 years ago, so any that are out there at the time of this story are illegal and probably hidden from just about everyone.

Experiment - the noun, is used specifically to reference people who were in the Labs being experimented on. Most experiments are in their 30's through 50's since the revolution was 30 some years ago unless they've come from an illegal lab.

To experiment- the verb, refers in general to the procedures preformed on test subjects in the lab. These varied from Lab to Lab and scientist to scientist depending on their end goals.

Strays - Someone who has obviously lost his or her way, wandering the Wildlands.

Predator - Someone (or group of someones) who wander the Wildlands looking for strays for "fun."

To claim - Usually used in reference to strays/victims, though in some cases a person can be claimed for protection.

Inherited Servant - Some people signed contracts to work out in the labs or in neighboring cities, and moved their children or families out with them. If a worker with a contract passed away, their child or family would be forced to fulfill the terms of the contract.

Neutral - A person from the Neutral Territory

Wildlander - A person from the Wildlands.

Lost Lander - a person from the Lost Territory

  1. Hi, lunarfox
I'm ready to start reading Ruin. I've just read the world background and now this. I just wonder... how are the words 'experiment and experimenting' defined in this story?

I'd better update the list! Thanks, Moondaisy.
